Just A Man
I was born to die; I was born to live
I was born to take; I was born to give
I was born to love; I was born to hate
I was born to destroy; I was born to create
You know I’m just a man; won’t you take me as I am?
That was never such a problem in our younger days
When the sun lights up my face don’t you see the mark of grace?
The long hand of our Father casting holy rays
Come a time for sorrow; come a time for joy
Come a time for toil and labor; come a time for all our toys
Come a time for rising early; come a time to stay at rest
Come a time for celebration; come a time to take the test
You know I’m just a man; won’t you take me as I am?
While my spirit fire burns brightly in my heart there is a hole
Though the flame’s still white and hot I can’t be something I’m not
The crossroad was deserted when I tried to sell my soul
There’s a way for making peace; there’s a way to stand and fight
There’s a way to live in darkness; there’s a way to live in light
There’s a way for charging forward; there’s a way to turn and run
There’s a way to hunt the moon; there’s a way to seek the sun
You know I’m just a man won’t you take me as I am?
When this life is over it won’t matter any more
Let’s go back and find the spring; hear the Goddess laugh and sing
Dip our feet into the water at the shore
When the sun lights up my face don’t you see the mark of grace?
The long hand of our Father casting holy rays
Though the flame’s still white and hot I can’t be something I’m not
The crossroad was deserted when I tried to sell my soul
Let’s go back and find the spring; hear the Goddess laugh and sing
Dip our feet into the water at the shore
