Damascus Road
I traveled down Damascus Road
With murder on my mind
So righteous was my mission
So heavy was my load
Saul was my companion
When Jesus struck us down
Saul rode on to find the Way
Yet I rode on alone
Three days and nights Saul suffered blind
Though he did fast and pray
‘Til Ananias came to him
Restored the light of day
Please lay your hands upon me
Brush warm lips ‘cross my brow
That the Holy Spirit
May enter in me now
Sweep away the heavy scales
That cover up my eyes
I know I’ve heard His word before
But I never realized
How long I’ve borne the darkness
While standing in the light
He sent you here to guide me
Bear witness to my plight
Somehow I missed the message
While the Kingdom lies within
Still two or more must gather
Before His love begins
The grace of God’s eternal
And always offered free
Yet it takes a mortal hand
To make delivery

Damascus Road was recorded live and uncut in the living room on an Olympus LS-10. Just me and a guitar about 2 feet away from the mic with levels set on automatic.
