You Can’t Catch Death
You can’t catch death
Though it leaves you with a cold
That will seldom go away
No matter how you hold
To illusions and conclusions
About the way the world
Revolves around your ego
As if history unfurled
To fondle all your fantasies
And mother all your pearls
Preconceived for purest pleasure
Given gardens of delight
Would it kill to wonder how it is
That you just might
Have been perfection from the start
And not the darkest blight
To never hold a candle to
The likes of me despite
The fear I haven’t faith enough
To fall into the light
